Vintage Timepiece (aka Steampunk/ ONE OF A KIND) TIBETAN STYLE/SIZE Support Spindle No.158
Circa 1900 - Made in Switzerland - "Marlboro" labelled Multi-Color Porcelain Enamel Pocket Watch Dial and Antique grandfather Clock Weight Pulley

WEIGHT: 1.5 oz. (45g), WHORL: 1.77” (45) diameter, SHAFT: this is the Larger of the 2 that I make = .138" (3.5mm) dia. x 8.4" (21.3cm) length in Metallic Cobalt Blue

The centerpiece of this support spindle is a multi-color (gold leaf, cobalt blue, and rose center) white porcelain enamel (over copper) "Marlboro" pocket watch dial - brand from watchmaker/retailer Louis Goering of La Chaux de Fonds, Switzerland. The dial was specially prepared and adorned with an antique watch gear, balance wheel, and one Siam color Preciosa Czech crystal rhinestone - then coated with a thick layer of epoxy resin for a no-snag and long life finish. The dial is mounted to an antique brass grandfather clock weight cable pulley and filled (between arms and outer rim) with blue mica tinted epoxy resin - then mounted to the Metallic Cobalt Blue powder-coat painted hi-carbon/spring steel shaft with a heat forged hook. The bottom side of the whorl is adorned with a brass winding barrel gear, 6 additional Capri Blue crystals, a large 6-petal gold plated bead cap, and finished off with gold plated findings (top and bottom). All components are mounted with a industrial 2-part epoxy. This is a very well balanced, medium weight spindle that spins forever and will be wonderful for spinning a wide variety of fibers.

HISTORY: The Marlboro brand was owned by Louis Goering of La Chaux de Fonds and has registered over 200 different trademarks for the American market during throughout the 20th century. This particular dial was likely made by the Gallet Watch Co. of La Chaux de Fonds and is a historic Swiss manufacturer of high-end timepieces for professional, military, sports, racing, and aviation use. Gallet is the world's oldest watch and clock making house with history dating back to Humbertus Gallet, a clock maker who became a citizen of Geneva in 1466. The Gallet & Cie (Gallet & Company) name was officially registered by Julien Gallet (1806–1849) in 1826, who moved the family business from Geneva to La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. Prior to this date, operations commenced under the name of each of the Gallet family patriarchs.
