This is a lighter weight support spindle that is very well balanced and has a good amount of rim weight to keep it spinning a long time... it will be wonderful for spinning a wide variety of cotton and short and longer staple fine fibers.

Made from 30 individual pieces, the centerpiece of this spindle is a 1950's ETERNAMATIC (Swiss Made) men's wristwatch dial that is adorned with mechanical and electronic authentic watch components for a unique mix of steampunk and cyberpunk styles. The watch components are adhered to the dial - with connected gears and an artistic pattern - and is then coated in two thick layers of clear epoxy resin for a no-snag and long life finish. The bottom side has a triangular LED Flashlight Circuit Board that is also coated in epoxy - then center drilled for mounting onto the shaft. The dial, two 1/8" thick acrylic discs, a vintage brass clock escapement wheel, and the circuit board make up the whorl, which is mounted to an uncoated high-carbon/spring steel shaft with a heat forged hook. All components are assembled with an industrial 2-part epoxy adhesive and a rust inhibitor oil (WD-40) is applied to the finished spindle shaft to prevent surface rust.

HISTORY OF ETERNA WATCHES: Founded in 1856 by Dr. Joseph Girard and Urs Schild, Eterna is a historic Swiss watchmaker known for movement innovation, notably the 1948 Eterna-matic ball-bearing automatic rotor, a design that reduced friction and became an industry standard, inspiring its five-ball logo; the company also created the first alarm wristwatch and supplied watches for the Thor Heyerdahl's Kon-Tiki expedition, leading to its popular KonTiki collection.

Additional Information:
1962: Introduces the Eterna-Matic 3000 Dato, one of the thinnest automatic watches with a date.
Modern Era & Ownership Changes (1990s - Present)
1995: Acquired by F.A. Patek Philippe.
2006: Celebrates its 150th anniversary with the release of the automatic calibre 3030.
2011: Purchased by Citychamp Watch & Jewellery Group Limited.
2016: Marks its 160th anniversary with the Skeleton 1856.
Today, Eterna continues to build on its rich heritage of Swiss watchmaking, focusing on innovative mechanical movements and iconic designs, especially within its KonTiki line, blending tradition with modern craftsmanship.
