This customer requested and movie inspired spindle is one that I am quite proud of and one of the most challenging spindles I've made to date - and it spins forever - like no other! The centerpiece of this spindle is a high quality and highly polished gold plated stainless steel [the~one] ring with deep and engraving that is filled with glow-in-the-dark lettering that looks like it came right out of the fire. The whorl for this spindle is made from two acrylic discs and two black anodized aluminum discs with a Mexico 1-Peso Coin laminated in the center, The whorl is adorned with the ring mounted on top with a fire-eye print mounted within the ring - then filled with slow cure epoxy resin, and the bottom side of the whorl is adorned with a smaller diameter acrylic disc with 36 Black Diamond and Clear Preciosa (Czech) crystal rhinestones, a black painted and filled with white mica epoxy Tree-of-Life pendant that is also coated in a thick layer of slow cure epoxy resin and finished off with a silver plated finding around the shaft. These components are mounted to a Cosmic Starlight Black powder-coat-painted steel shaft with a heat forged hook and all components are assembled with 2-part epoxy adhesive.
This is one of the longest spinning spindles I've made and it has the weight to spin a wide variety of short and fine longer staple fibers.

This spindle is stunning! It spins fast and long, just as described. Im spinning some short staple length wool on it and its working out so well. I can probably make my own sewing thread with how thin this is spinning up! Lol. And John was awesome enough to customize the crystals on it. I chose to change it to this crystal volcano color and its very fitting with the theme. I tried to post a video, but for some reason Etsy is only allowing me to pick a photo. But hopefully my photo gives this spindle some justice.
