This design incorporates a silver plated floral filigree pendant that I've treated treated to add a rainbow gun metal gray patina, which makes each one unique. The pendant is laminated to a slightly smaller (1.75"/45mm) acrylic disc to complete the whorl - then it, and matching top and bottom side filigree bead caps with a gold plated multi-crystal spacer inside, another another crystal spacer and silver plated findings are on all mounted onto a signature John Galen high-carbon steel shaft with a heat forged hook and painted in an industrial quality 2-part (color/gloss) powder coat paint. The additional bead caps and findings have been treated with the same gun-metal gray patina as the pendant and all components are assembled with an industrial quality 2-part epoxy resin for long life

This is an amazing and versatile light weight spinner that has a fast spin and plenty of rim weight to handle anything from cotton and other short staple fibers - to longer staple fine fibers as well.

First off, the spindle is beautiful and was shipped the next day. I asked John if he could make me a support spindle and he kindly delivered. The spindle itself is a work of art, finished beautifully and has no sharp edges(except the spinning tip). Compared to the not so basic flower tahkli i have, I would say the spin speed is slightly slower but definitely faster than a tibetan. It weighs 0.9 oz and has a whorl diameter of 1.85 inches, slightly bigger than a tahkli. I had some false starts, but after a couple of days practice, I definitely love it. It does need a couple of extra flicks to get the same twist as the tahkli, but the slower spin time gives me a chance to draft thinner thread. I was easily able to get to my usual lace weight in 3 days. Pictured : spindle with 70/30 merino silk spun laceweight. Thank you, John!

Another beautiful spindle, can't decide on fiber to spin as of yet

I'm new to using spindles (have a little bit of experience with a spinning wheel) but this is a dream to use as a beginner and so beautifully mesmerising to watch! Really happy with this choice. I was also impressed with how quickly it got to me in New Zealand.

Lovely and so lightweight. Just gorgeous craftsmanship.

My spindle arrived so quickly and it's just stunning! It spins beautifully and is a delight to look at and hold.
